Satellites are the artificial objects or machines that are put in orbit around the earth. They relay back to the earth radio and TV signals, which are used by the different channels to telecast their programs. These are very beneficial to us. These satellite TV channels have brought about a revolutionary change in the sphere of education and entertainment of the people. We can watch movies as well as other programs sitting in our houses. Though the channels have contributed a lot in educating and entertaining the people, some channels telecast programs and movies of violent nature. They also show obscene music and films. I think that these channels cause cultural decay and moral degeneration. These adversely affect the children and particularly the young generation. To foster and enrich our national culture, we have to receive only the good aspects of foreign culture and show respect to our tradition. Therefore, to ensure the positive use of the satellite TV channels the government should formulate a policy regarding which channels should be permitted and which channels should not be permitted.
