Dhaka 02, February 2020: Most of the people of our country live below the poverty line. But the prices of essential commodities including rice, sugar, flour, pulse, vegetables, fish, meat, eggs and soybean oil are rapidly increasing. In different city markets, sugar was found selling at Tk. 38 per kilogram against its previous week's price of Tk. 33. So called shortage of supply is the cause of price hike of sugar. Price of flour and Soybean oil increased to a great extent last week that ended Friday. 
Flour was being sold at Tk. 15 per kilogram whereas its price was Tk. 13 a week ago. Price of Soybean oil increased by taka five per litre compared to the previous week's price level. Last week, Soybean oil was sold at Tk. 58 per liter but its price was Tk. 54 in the previous week. If the trend continues unchecked, the common people who live with limited income will face acute troubles. Middle class families are the sufferers to meet their requirements. However, prices of vegetables have slightly been decreased. Rice and fish prices remained constant.
