Roads Are Like Death Traps!
Jahid Kamal, Staff Reporter, 17 October 2021: At least 35 people were killed and more than 150 injured in 25 road accidents across the country in the last four days.
There has been an alarming rise in road accidents. According to BUET, on average road accidents kill 15,000 people and injure 40,000 people in a year.
Professor Shamsul Haque of BUET, a road accident expert, says that shopping and selling on the road is one of the reasons for the risk of pedestrians.
The chairman of the National Human Rights Commission said, few years ago, we lost two brilliant citizens—filmmaker Tareq Masud and journalist Mishuk Munier in terrible road accident. We demand speedy justice of every death in a road accident.
Ilyas Kanchan, the founder of Safe Roads Wanted said, if the road law is fully implemented, accidents will be reduced by 90 percent.
