A hartal day is a day of suspension of all daily activities. Generally it is called by political parties or labor unions for the realization of their demand from the ruling government or concerned authority. It is called to protest against the corruption or the illegal activities of the ruling party. On a hartal day, the offices, schools, colleges, universities, markets, courts, mills and factories remain closed. Vehicles do not move on the roads. Occasionally rickshaws and ambulances are seen to move on the road. The picketers burn old tires on the road and try to stop the movement of the vehicles. They bring out procession. A large number of police are deployed on important points. People have to go one place to another on foot. There are many demerits of hartal. Normal life becomes paralyzed due to hartal. It creates negative effects on our economic growth. Students can not go to their educational institutions. Sick people can not go to hospitals for treatment. Mills and factories have to stop. However, necessary steps should be taken to get rid of the hartal problem. Ruling government should be given priority of the demand of the opposite parties. Opposite parties also should be taken a peaceful path of protestation avoiding hartal.
