Life in a village is full of peace and happiness. Man can lead a comfortable life in a village. Life in a village is very simple and easy-going. It is free from horn cares and anxieties of the world. The villagers are always in contact of nature. Though there are some disadvantages in village life, men still now prefer villages for easy, peaceful, carefree life.
Classes of life in a village:
Those who live in a village fall into three classes: the rich, the middle class and the toiling mass. The rich are very few in number because they turn away from the village and usually live in towns. Some of the middle class people are land-owners. But they do not cultivate the land themselves. They engage laborers who do all work for them. The businessmen among the middle class are prosperous. The vast majority of the villagers belong to the toiling mass. They are poor peasants, landless laborers, the artisans, the blacksmiths, the weavers, the fishermen and the people engaged in such other useful works. Lifestyle and the ways of life of the villagers vary from class to class.
Communication:
The medium of communication is not satisfactory at all in the village. Almost all the roads are muddy and few roads are brick-built. People often move here and there on foot. In the rainy season, boat is the only means of communication of the villagers.
Advantages of life in a village:
Life in a village is quite enjoyable. Here the villagers get fresh fish and vegetables. The air the people breathe here is pure. The climate of the village is quite refreshing and lovely. One can get up early in the morning in a village and go out for a walk by the riverside. Walking beside the river is really charming, fascinating and good for health. The quietness of them morning and the cool-breeze are heavenly. The thing that one can enjoy most is the scene of sun rise. With every sunrise, one wonders at the beauty of nature and can consider himself fortunate enough to be able to witness something which is rare in town or city lite.
Disadvantages of life in a village:
There are some disadvantages of life in a village. The sanitary conditions are very unsatisfactory and such is the case with medical and educational facilities, because good doctors and teachers generally avoid villages on account of their disadvantages. Moreover, hospitals and educational institutions are not available in a village. There are some shrewd people who keep up quarrels, rivalries and litigation among the rival groups to get some financial benefits out of them. Sometimes, the village is full of dirty politics. On the whole, the life in a village is very often a sad tale of woes and sufferings.
Conclusion:
Life in village is generally the seat of poverty, squalor, illiteracy, disease and death. But the importance of the village in our national life is very great. We must not forget that if the villages die out, the fate of our nation will be sealed forever. If the government takes necessary steps to develop villages, life in a village will be, no doubt, pleasant and charming.
